Learning guide

Confidence begins with clear information.

MCHF’s prevention agenda combines vaccine confidence, community engagement and links to routine services. This is an introduction to the programme approach; individual schedules and clinical questions belong with qualified health workers.

IN THE SIERRA LEONE CONTEXT

Local knowledge. Shared priorities.

The prevention agenda in Sierra Leone starts with listening, clear information and coordination with the health services responsible for vaccination.

Make room for questions

Use respectful community discussions to understand concerns and avoid assumptions about why people miss services.

Keep service information local

Confirm current service arrangements with the relevant health facility and district health team.

Include people who are missed

Explore distance, communication and practical access barriers with caregivers and community representatives.

Meet our national focus

Planning considerations for MCHF’s programme framework. Confirmed delivery locations and activities are listed with each published project.

UNDERSTAND THE APPROACH

Confidence begins with clear information.

MCHF’s prevention agenda combines vaccine confidence, community engagement and links to routine services. This is an introduction to the programme approach; individual schedules and clinical questions belong with qualified health workers.

01

Vaccine confidence

Confidence involves trust in information, health workers and the services delivering vaccines. Listening to concerns and discussing them respectfully is part of the strategy.

02

Demand and access work together

Knowing about a service does not guarantee that someone can reach it. Planned work connects communication and mobilisation with service linkages, missed-child follow-up and attention to access barriers.

03

Prevention is a shared effort

The programme also addresses disease-prevention awareness and community preparedness. Accurate information and coordination with health authorities guide this work.
